Monthly Medal, Stableford and Par/Bogey competitions
Free entry to Monthly competitions (Medal, Stableford and Par/Bogey) is included in the annual membership fee. Members may play their round at any time over the competition weekend. They should collect a scorecard from the clubhouse before starting, complete and have the card witnessed by a playing partner, then submit the card immediately after the round.
Sponsored Competitions
We are fortunate in that we are able to attract generous support from many local and international businesses. Sponsored competitions are frequently arranged and are open to all current members. Usually, a sign-up sheet giving full details (Format, Prizes, Entry Fees) is posted in the clubhouse well in advance of the tournament. Members should complete this and a draw will be made and published in advance of the date. Whilst every effort is made to accommodate competitors draw preferences, this cannot always be guaranteed.
Sponsored competitions normally take place on Friday mornings following a 7:30 Shotgun Start.
Club Championship
The Club Championship is Desert Lakes' premier tournament and normally takes place during early Spring. The event is held over two consecutive weekends and is Strokeplay format. Round 1 is played as a regular Monthly Medal event - that is, at any time over the weekend, but Round 2 is played 'Head to Head' with groupings arranged dependent on their Round 1 scores. No adjustment to handicaps is made between rounds and a player's Gross scores from both rounds decides the Club Champion.
Handicaps and Eligibility
New members may establish a handicap is one of two ways. Firstly, a new member may submit a recent handicap certificate or card from a previous club. Alternatively, a player should submit completed and counter-signed scorecards from three rounds at Desert Lakes. A provisional handicap will be calculated from these scores. In order to maintain a current and representative handicap, members should submit a minimum of ten competition scorecards throughout the year. Eligibility for Sponsored Competitions is dependent on having submitted this minimum number of cards during the twelve months leading up to the competition date.
